Granada, the oldest city built by the Spaniard in the American Continent in 1524 situated on the shores of Lake Nicaragua the biggest fresh water lake in all Central America. The city itself is a romantic city of colorful colonial homes and neoclassical and baroque churches. Just off Granada, in the lake, are Las Isletas, made up of more than 350 island created when the Mombacho volcano exploded 20,000 years ago.
